COALITION AMERICA HIRES CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER - Position Created to Enhance Services and Aggressively Fight Rising Healthcare Costs on Behalf of CAI Customers
ATLANTA, Ga. - November 14, 2000

Coalition America, Inc. (CAI), a leader in healthcare technology and information solutions for customized PPO integration and cost-containment programs, today announced the hiring of physician David A. Rearick as chief medical officer. CAI helps its customers reduce costs associated with healthcare provider reimbursements through the use of innovative technology and medical cost containment strategies. Rearick joins CAI from his most recent position as network medical director with Aetna US Healthcare.

"Our customers tell us that healthcare cost savings is their number one priority. Dr. Rearick's medical expertise will enable us to continue to pursue increased cost savings for our customers," said Sean Smith, chairman and chief executive officer of CAI. "By adding a physician to the CAI executive team, we are reaffirming our commitment to providing employers with the best savings solutions to reduce their overall healthcare expenditures while receiving the highest quality of medical care."

In this newly created position, Rearick will be responsible for overseeing medical cost containment strategies. He is charged with the task of aggressively fighting medical fraud and wasteful practices, which lead to rising healthcare costs. He also will implement unbundling and other medical logic into the CAI system, enhance databases and initiate strategies to reduce the costs of prescription drugs for CAI customers. Rearick is skilled in contract negotiations and brings a unique perspective as a certified physician executive to CAI. Rearick is board certified in osteopathic medicine from the Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and philosophy from Baldwin-Wallace College in Ohio and a master's degree in business administration from Emory University. Rearick has a distinguished 20-year career in clinical practice, group practice formation, business development and managed care. He serves as a diplomat of the American Board of Medical Management.

"I am looking forward to helping CAI maintain the proper balance between quality healthcare and reasonable cost containment strategies for our customers," said Rearick.

CAI brings the convenience of the Internet to the country's largest PPO database in delivering customized healthcare savings solutions. CAI delivers, on a client-by-client and location-by-location basis, a complete solution that provides access to the best provider organization available through the coordination of national, regional and local networks. Since CAI is not aligned with one PPO in any given region, the company seeks the most attractive program to meet customized client expectations. CAI's innovative RepriceNow service enables customers to instantly reprice medical claims and apply PPO discounts. The service is easily accessible through CAI's Web site.
