FREE TRAINING FOR ORGANIZATIONS FACING WITH HEALTHCARE INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS - Coalition America and Hazen Group offer seminar on HIPAA compliance
ATLANTA, Ga. - April 5, 2002

One of the most sweeping healthcare laws in recent memory is rewriting the requirements for medical record keeping and in the process is sending most health-related organizations scurrying for help in complying with its wide-ranging regulations.

To help its customers and other affected groups restructure their record keeping systems to conform to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Coalition America and Hazen Group are co-sponsoring a free forum May 2, 2002 at Atlanta’s Ravinia Club. The forum begins at 8:00am

The law was enacted to protect workers from losing health insurance when they lose or change jobs (portability), and to protect the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of electronic health information (Accountability).

One portion of HIPAA, specifically, Title II, Subtitle F, Section 261-264 of the Act, contains the Administrative Simplification Provision. This provision applies to health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and those healthcare providers who transmit health information in electronic form. This legislation's intent is to reduce the administrative costs of providing and paying for healthcare by requiring standards be adopted for electronic transactions, unique health identifiers, code sets, security and privacy of electronic health information, and electronic signatures.

It is on the record keeping aspects of compliance that this seminar will focus. Among the subjects covered by the seminar are:

"Coalition America and Hazen Group recently formed a strategic partnership to help our customers work through their HIPAA compliance issues," said Sean Smith, President & CEO of Coalition America. "We are delighted to offer help to organizations that are grappling with HIPAA concerns through this no-cost seminar."
