COALITION AMERICA TO SAVE THE RAILROAD EMPLOYEES
NATIONAL HEALTH AND WELFARE PLAN MILLIONS IN HEALTHCARE COSTS -
CAIs Cost-Containment Solutions and Negotiation Services to
Lower Non-Network Medical Claims
ATLANTA, Ga. - August 15, 2001
Coalition America, Inc. (CAI), a leader in healthcare cost-containment and workers compensation savings programs, today announced that it will provide its RepriceNow Internet and EDI claims repricing solutions and negotiation services to The Railroad Employees National Health and Welfare Plan (NH&W Plan). The agreement will help the nations railway labor organizations and class one railroads save millions on healthcare expenses.
"This agreement is a natural fit for both CAI and the NH&W Plan," said Sean Smith, chief executive officer of Coalition America. "Because of CAIs Internet and EDI repricing options, claim turnaround time will be greatly reduced. More importantly, we anticipate generating two to three million in additional savings for the plan through supplemental PPOs and negotiations."
The agreement with CAI will enable the plan to realize additional savings from non-network claims that otherwise would not be eligible for discounts under its primary healthcare networks.
"We are extremely excited with CAIs ability to provide savings opportunities on claims of all dollar amounts," said Joe Epstein, director employee benefits, National Railway Labor Conference. "The additional savings in healthcare costs generated by CAI will directly benefit our members, allowing for reduced out-of-pocket expenses and increased savings for the plan as a whole."
One of the concerns of the NH&W is the ability of its vendors to meet HIPAA requirements.
"I was impressed with CAIs progress in meeting HIPAA requirements ahead of schedule," Epstein added.
About The Railroad Employees National Health and Welfare Plan
